SUPERVISORS BIO


1st Supervisor 

Prof. Dr. Regina Römhild is a cultural anthropologist and professor at the Institute for European Ethnology at Humboldt University in Berlin. She is co-founder of the neighborhood initiative Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße and the Amo Collective Berlin. The development of a postcolonial anthropology of Europe is one of her main concerns in research and teaching. She also works on conceptual, empirical, and political issues of postmigrant Europe, the EU-European border regime and its colonial racist underpinnings. She is particularly interested in productive intersections between ethnographic fieldwork and artistic practice. Another focus is on trans-academic collaboration with civil society in the context of a publicly engaged anthropology.



2nd Supervisor

Prof. Dr. Bonaventure Ndikung is a curator, author, and biotechnologist. Since 2023 he is director of Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW ) in Berlin. He is the founder and was artistic director of SAVVY Contemporary Berlin, 2009–22; artistic director of sonsbeek 20–>24, Arnhem, 2020–22; artistic director of 14th Rencontres de Bamako, Mali, 2022; curator of the Finnish Pavilion, 58th Venice Biennale, 2019; guest curator of the Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art, 2018; and curator-at-large of documenta 14, Athens & Kassel,2017.
